SUBJECT: Research Proposal Memo (Implementing Employee Performance Monitoring System in Organizations).

Many organizations are implementing employee performance monitoring systems in their organizations. Implementing the EPM system will help organizations gather and report employee behaviors at the workplace and improve employee performance.

Statement of the Problem

Implementing an employee performance monitoring system is synonymous with many organizations that want to enhance the performance of their employees. This is because decreasing employee performance in organizations is contributing to declining organizational revenues (Alananzeh et al., 2017). As a result, organizations have realized that employee performance can be enhanced if they understand that they are being monitored. To ensure that declining employee performance is not experienced at PubMad organization, the organization has decided to implement an employee performance monitoring system.

Proposed Solution

Many organizations are experiencing declining productivity because their employees are not working at optimal. As such, employee performance levels are declining significantly year after year. Because of this, organizations have been sourcing strategies to enhance their productivity, which is the best implementing an employee performance monitoring system (Regen & Yacob, 2020). I to eliminate the problem of decreasing employee performance level, it is proposed that PubMad should implement the employee performance monitoring system, which will collect and report employee behaviors related to performance while at work. Employees will be aware of the implementation of the performance monitoring system and, therefore, will not underperform or involve in activities that may undermine their performance during work.

Scope

Implementing an employee performance monitoring system in organizations is not a simple practice. Some many issues or factors have to be considered before such an activity can be implemented. The current research will focus on some of the factors that organizations must consider when implementing such a system. Issues related to employee privacy will be investigated (Audenaert et al., 2019). The legal and ethical issues that the organization has to consider will also be investigated. The research will also focus on understanding elements that must be included in the system to make it effective. Similarly, the employees’ role and the employees’ rights during the implementation and subsequent use of the system will be investigated.

Methods

The investigating phenomenon began, or that is widely used to solve business problems today just like it was in the past. The phenomenological study technique is used widely in qualitative studies investigating and solving activities and events that are perceived to be problematic in the organization, such as implementing a performance monitoring system (Esfahani et al., 2018). The current study will therefore employ a qualitative research design that will adopt the phenomenological philosophy. Primary data required to synthesize the study findings will be collected through a survey that will use semi-structured questionnaires distributed to the study participants. Semi-structured questionnaires are relevant in this perspective because the participants’ opinions and attitudes will be focused on in the study. Apart from the primary data collected in the study, secondary data will also be incorporated through a review of available literature on the subject. Several studies have been done to investigate the topic. Evidence from the publications and research on the matter have suggested that organizations have to involve all the people in the organization that will be impacted by the issue when implementing or seeking to solve it using technological means (Alananzeh et al., 2017). Below listed are some of the sources and publications that will be consulted through a literature review.

Audience

The current research proposal aims to synthesize findings that support implementing the organization employee performance monitoring systems. Still, it will also provide recommendations for the effective implementation of the systems. Therefore, the audience for the current study will include organizations, managers, leaders, employees, and researchers who will consult it in their different capacities and utilization. The secondary audience will be students who will find it imperative in the future.

Qualifications

I have always been interested in providing solutions to the problems that organizations face—because of this, delving into business-oriented research has been my main objective throughout my academic career as a student and as a professional. Given my interest in providing solutions to business problems, I believe I am interested in this research, and I will conduct it with precision and interest. I have also read many research procedures in the past, and through the experience, I have gained over time, I will conduct ethical and professional research. I also have an interest in this study because I perceive it as part of my learning process.

Conclusion

Many organizations are facing problems related to decreasing employee performance levels today. Although there are many strategies that managers can use to mitigate the problem, many have not been utilized by the organizations to solve the problem because of the gap in available knowledge on the strategies. Implementing employee performance monitoring technology is one of the strategies that organizations are using to mitigate the problem. However, there is still little knowledge and literature available to organizational managers to utilize the system or solution effectively. Therefore, by conducting the proposed study, I will contribute to the available literature on the issue. Still, I will also provide evidence-based recommendations on the factors that should be considered when implementing the system in organizations. Similarly, I will be efficient with the available resources and conduct a high-quality study. I will be mindful of the ethics and legal considerations that must be adhered to during research.
