In this Assignment, you will track and evaluate the impact of stress on your health and create a strategic plan to manage stress to promote resilience in your own life. This assignment has two (2) parts. In Part 1, you will keep a stress diary and analyze the results. In Part 2, you will write a 3- to 4-page paper (double spaced, APA format in style and references) that reviews PNI research and its implications for health broadly and personally by summarizing your analysis of your stress diary and creating a strategic plan to manage stress.
Part 1: Tracking and Analysis Directions
Tracking: To complete this assignment, you will need to keep track of stressful events in your life for at least two (2) days. Be sure to record at least four (4) to five (5) stressors for each day of tracking. Please factor the time needed for tracking into your planning for this assignment. Be sure to make regular entries throughout the day as stressors occur or shortly after. Obviously, do not record when it could be dangerous to do so. You may use the template provided in the Course Resources for tracking. For each stressor, note:
The date and time
Describe the stressful event in words and the situation surrounding the event.
Describe any physical symptoms you experienced.
Rate your stress level from 0–10, where 0 is the least and 10 is the most stress.
Rate your happiness from 0–10, where 0 is the least and 10 is the most happiness.
Rate how effectively you were able to work or stay on task from 0–10, where 0 is the least and 10 is the most effectively.
Describe your mood in words.
Describe the fundamental cause of the stressful event.
Reflect on how well you handled the stressful event.
Analysis: Review your tracking sheet and take notes on these issues:
Highlight the most frequent and unpleasant stressors.
Review your descriptions of the underlying causes and your assessment of how well you handled the event to determine if these reveal any problems that should be addressed.
Review the situations that are causing stress and note if any can be changed. Pay attention to the role of your moods and emotional responses to stress and how they impacted you and the situation.
Make note of any physical symptoms you experienced and compare them to your stress and mood ratings.
Did all stressors have a negative impact on your effectiveness and mood?
You should plan to submit a copy or photo of your tracking sheets and notes.
